Assalamu-alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu
My respected brothers, sisters and elders of our community,
Ramadan Mubarak to you and your families!
Based on global moonsighting, the first day of fasting is Thursday, June 18th. Therefore, the first day of Taraweeh prayers will be on Wednesday, June 17th. Isha prayers will be offered at 10:20 PM, followed by Taraweeh prayers. Qari Zahid will lead the first 8 rakats, and Shaykh Yaseen will lead the following 12 rakats. We will also have Hafidh Hammad Hai leading a late night taraweeh session of 8 rakats daily at 1:00am. Families with young children should plan to pray in the gym.
It is a great blessing of Allah (SWT) that we are blessed with another Ramadan to reap benefits from, Insha’Allah. May Allah (SWT) bless those who passed away in the past with jannatul firdous, Aameen.
Ramadan is a blessed month during which Allah, the Almighty, has enjoined us to fast. In it, the gates of Heavens are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and every devil is chained up. In it, Allah has a night, which is better than a thousand months; whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived.
As we begin this noble month together, I ask you all to forgive my new Council and me for all our shortcomings and I assure that we will forgive every one of you as well. Let’s us strengthen our unity and be grateful for all the blessings of health, wealth and Eamaan, Allah (SWT) had bestowed on all of us and seek His forgiveness for all our shortcomings and resolve ourselves to better our lives according to the teachings of Quran and Sunnah.
Allah (SWT) has also commanded us to be generous during this month and the rewards for such acts of kindness are immense. On behalf of the ISB Council, I would request you humbly to be generous and donate.
1. Only $2/day per person and $25 every Friday to contribute towards the electricity and cooling expenses during this month.
2. Sponsor an iftaar - The actual cost of iftar is between $1850 - $2400 for 250-300 people per day. You can either donate the monetary amount suggested or any amount that you can afford or split a night between multiple donors/families. Please contact [email protected] for more info or sign-up on list outside of ISB Cafe.
3. Donate Oil, Meat, Rice, Fresh Fruit, Juices, Milk, Water, Chickpeas, etc via the Ansaar Program to support the daily Iftar program.
4. Please carpool and follow the instructions of volunteers in parking, cafeteria and other areas of the masjid.
5. Volunteer your time and energies in the upkeep of the masjid.
6. Do not schedule any private Iftaar parties at your home on July 11th 2015 and make yourselves available for the Annual community Iftaar and Benefit Dinner at ISB. This Iftar event is what keeps this institution running for the next 12 months and beyond.
7. Join us on July 14th (27th of Ramadan) to celebrate the graduation of our latest group of Hifz students.
Finally, I ask Allah (SWT) to accept our siyam, qiyam and generosity during this month and bless us with the best health, wealth and Eamaan. May He open His doors of barakah in all our homes. Aameen.

(It is) a month of blessing, in which Allah covers you with blessing, for He sends down Mercy, decreases sins and answers prayers. In it, Allah looks at your competition (in good deeds), and boasts about you to His angels. So show Allah goodness from yourselves, for the unfortunate one is he who is deprived in (this month) of the mercy of Allah, the Mighty, the Exalted."
